VASER® Lipo: The next generation in liposuction

any men and women in Cleveland and beyond come to Vanek Plastic Surgery for liposuction treatments. Dr. Paul Vanek uses next-generation liposuction technology in VASER® Lipo. “With regular liposuction, you could only treat a few areas. But now with the selectivity and low blood loss associated with VASER, I am able to treat a person’s neck, arms, back, abdomen, flanks, inner and outer thighs, knees and calves in nearly a single session, depending on a person’s budget and temperament,” explains Dr. Vanek.

“VASER is ahead of its time,” adds Dr. Vanek, who in 2003 was the first to bring the VASER LipoSelection system to Ohio. “It is going to become the benchmark liposuction technology.” VASER Lipo uses specific ultrasonic waves to target only fat cells. The rest of the cells are unaffected as the fat is broken up and separated for extraction.

What are the Benefits of Liposuction?

Because of VASER’s versatility, Dr. Vanek has been able to replace extensive surgery and long recovery times with a single VASER session.”There are some patients who come in thinking they need a facelift, but I am able to give them the results they want and love by performing facial VASER Lipo,” explains Dr. Vanek, who is also a bio-chemist and researcher who has participated in NIH and FDA studies.

“I published an article in the international journal Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery comparing the regular liposuction technique to ultrasonic liposuction by VASER on the same patient. This benchmark study demonstrated that skin contracture (tightening) was 56% more than regular liposuction on VASER side. And that the blood loss was 23% less on the VASER side compared to the regular liposuction side,” says Dr. Vanek. “This multi-center study allowed us to demonstrate what we thought we were seeing clinically and prove it scientifically.”

Lower blood loss means quicker recovery for Dr. Vanek’s patients. “The typical patient will have their abdomen, flanks, and back ‘VASERed’, and they will require 1-2 days of recovery,” Dr. Vanek explains. “They can get back to driving or a sedentary job quickly. Patients who opt to treat more areas should expect more recovery days. A patient opting for treatment in only one area might be able to go to work the next day. But, there will be some drainage from the incisions for a day or two after the procedure. During your consultation we’ll go over this information, but individualized for you.”
