Ear Surgery

Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is a procedure to improve the overall appearance of the ears.

“The goal of otoplasty is to make the person less self-conscious about their ears. It can enable patients to abandon hairstyles that camouflage their ears, allow them to wear baseball caps, up-dos, or a short hair style, and empower them to feel and look very natural in their own skin,” says Dr. Paul Vanek. “Patients who are very self-conscious about their ears or whose parents think they are going to have a lot of social problems related to overly prominent ears are good candidates for ear restructuring.”

“If the ear is cupped, too prominent, or too large, or if the lobule (earlobe) or ear projection is too great – each feature will be assessed and corrected. Even the symmetry of the ears can be evaluated and improved,” says Dr. Vanek, a board-certified general and plastic surgeon.

What Dr. Vanek can do for your ear surgery

Dr. Vanek has participated as a researcher in NIH and FDA studies, written scientific journal articles and provided excellent medical care in the Akron, Cleveland, and Mentor areas since 1996. Because of this, he was recently named “Lake County’s Favorite Plastic Surgeon” by the News Herald. Despite his accolades and experience, Dr. Vanek believes his connection to his patients is the basis for his success.

“It is truly the relationships I form with my patients that creates the basis for a great outcome,” Dr. Vanek explains. “I don’t just do the surgery and say ‘good luck.’ The goal for me is to follow you through all the anxiety and all the healing processes that occur. I’m going to attend to you myself, follow your progress, and reassure you that things are going well.”

“No one can guarantee a great result, but if it’s an outcome that is possible, I will strive to achieve that outcome,” Dr. Vanek says. “Give us a call. I’d love to talk with you and help you celebrate your beauty.
